Greetings,
The big news this week has to do with a power struggle developing in residential real estate. Since the NAR lawsuits, there have been changes to the rules about the marketing of “pocket listings.” Larger brokerages like Compass have started marketing their properties exclusively to their clients before putting them on the local MLS. This has drawn criticism from online listing portals like Zillow, which has banned the practice and is building out technology to help them identify listings that might have been marketed elsewhere before being put on their platform.
This week, we focus on construction technology, particularly 3D printing. A number of innovation breakthroughs are allowing 3D printed buildings to be taller, more affordable, and more desirable than ever. The problem is that the thing stopping the larger adoption of 3D printed buildings might not be the technology, but the lack of technical skills in the construction industry.
